Great read! I didn’t work in Hollywood😂 but I had a somewhat similar experience being at Stanford for grad school and living in Silicon Valley afterwards. I probably sound judgmental but I really couldn’t stomach it. For example back then it was still cool to own a Tesla, and you’d have the performative “Oh I bought a Tesla because I’m saving the environment” people who simultaneously protests AGAINST affordable housing because they don’t want the value of their houses to go down. Jesus H Christ😂
And like I said, and you acknowledged, I’m not perfect either. I feel like I was Spirit-led to move to Chicago, at least for this season of my life. Because out here it feels like nobody gives a flying fuck who I am and I looooveeee it. I didn’t at first, and the process of genuinely killing my ego was hard at first, but I’m starting to slowly reap the benefits. That said, I still have a LOT of work to do in that regard (judging by my last post).
Everyone seems to rave about Chicago! I really hope to check it out one day. Your experience in Silicon Valley is definitely relatable to how I felt working in Hollywood. It’s sad because if it’s similar in that regard, then I’m also sure it’s similar in how there are people who hope to bring about change and innovation. Their voices tend to be muffled by the phoniness 💔 anyway thank you, as always, for reading!
